Motivated By Love

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.” ‭‭First Corinthians‬ ‭13:1-3‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬) I appreciate this passage of scripture because it emphasizes the importance of love being our foundation. It also reveals to us that without love, nothing else really matters. All that we do (and don't do), should be motivated by love. We should never act out of obligation or just for show. Those things will never last and our motivations will eventually be exposed. Keeping a laser focus on God, Who is Love, and allowing Him to operate through us will keep our hearts in the right the place in this area of our lives.

First Corinthians 13:13 (NLT) sums it up best: “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”
