Mind Games

Research has shown that the average person thinks anywhere between 50,000 and 70,000 thoughts per day. That's between 35 and 48 thoughts per minute! I wish I could say that all the thoughts that we think are good ones and/or positive ones. But of course they are not. Scripture tells us that we have an adversary (Satan) and that he comes only to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). Many times, he comes by way of our minds. John 8:44 also tells us that Satan is the father of lies. And this is exactly what he uses to pollute our minds...LIES. It is very important that we know this and understand the truth of God's Word to fight against the lies. We should never allow Satan to play mind games with us by entertaining his lies in our minds with the potential of growing into reality for us. Instead, we should always hold on to, speak out and believe the Truth of God's Word over any lie that Satan tries to deceive us into believing. So I am urging all of us, the next time Satan drops a lie in our minds, let's get into the practice of speaking out the truth of God's Word against that lie. Jesus is our great example in this. In the book of Matthew when He was tempted with lies from Satan, He promptly shut him down with "it is written" and quoted a Word from God. The Word is our sword (Ephesians 6) and it cuts deep against Satan and his lies. Let's make sure we use it!
