You Don’t Have to Put Up With Fear

Admittedly, I’ve had my own issues with fear.  In particular, I’ve had a fear of being in a bad car accident.  This fear stems from a car accident I witnessed when I was a little girl.  Both female occupants were ejected through the windshield. One was pleading for help.  The other was deceased.  What an image to retain.

My issue with this particular fear ebbs and flows throughout my life, but as of late, it seemed to be flowing more than usual.  Then one day, I had enough. I had enough of feeling anxious every time I was on a highway.  I had enough of avoiding certain roads due to my anxiety.  I had enough of watching other motorists carefully to make sure they were maintaining their lanes.  I was just done with being overcome with fear.

I asked God to help me in this area.  He reminded me of Psalm 121:7-8. It says, “The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”  Wow! What a reminder!  It was certainly what I needed.

I am glad to testify that ever since that reminder, my fear of being in a car accident has subsided substantially. It was the truth of God’s Word that rendered me powerful to overcome.

And the same goes for all of us.  If there is anything you fear, ask God to help you overcome.  Your fear may not be the same as mine but there may be something else you fear.  Is it a fear of confrontation?  A fear of trying new things? A fear of failure?  Is a fear of the unknown?  A fear flying? A fear of speaking in front of people?   Again, whatever it is, ask God for help.  He is here to help us.

And always know that God never gives us a spirit of fear, but of power love and a sound mind(2 Timothy 1:7).  Go and be fearless!

I Am Not Alone

Sometimes we need to be reminded of how much God cares for us and that we are not alone. To that end, I simply want to share this (familiar) psalm with us. May you be encouraged. “The Lord is my sheph
