Unidentified Sin

Have you sinned in your life? Of course you have. We all have. But do we own up to it?
Well, I can say that I’ve been receiving fresh lessons about this topic. Over the past several weeks, my Pastor has been so eloquently preaching the truth about how God does not look lightly upon sin. Some of the truths that have been revealed to me over the course of the last several weeks have been heart wrenching…as they should be.
When we learn that we’ve offended God or in other words, when we learned that we have sinned, it should break our hearts. Not only that, it should compel us to repent.
Lamentations 3:40 says, “Let us examine our ways and test them,
and let us return to the Lord”. What a poignant statement. It leaves no question as to what we should do. Therefore, I’ve been examining my own ways and I have found (by revelation of Holy Spirit) that there was sin in my life that I wasn’t necessarily calling sin. Yikes! What a dangerous place to be!
Just like the scripture reference in Lamentations, there are commands in scripture that we are expected to obey. For example, scripture tells us not to worry (Philippians 4:6). But guess what I find myself doing sometimes? Yes, you guessed it, worrying. This may not seem like a big deal to you, but it is a big deal if God tells us not to do it. So as scripture admonishes, I had to examine myself (call the sin a sin) and repent to God about it.
It’s very important that we get a hold of a this truth. God doesn’t take sin lightly and neither should we. Although we won’t live sinless lives, we definitely can purpose to sin less.
