Engaged Much

It’s easy to become self-absorbed in today’s day and age. But I want to encourage us to resist being this way.

My most recent trip to New Jersey opened my eyes to something. Without getting into any details, I was reminded that there is so much more going on in the world and with people than what I can see from my Plainfield, Illinois birds-eye view. Many people are dealing with issues and going through stuff, sometimes all alone and with no hope. I realized, though, I have an active role to play in this. Actually we all do as Christians. How engaged are we in what is going on with others? Do we care? Or are we isolating ourselves only to be concerned about our needs alone?

God forbid! We should be concerned with each other for the sake of helping one another. We should be sensitive to the needs of others. And as led by God we should do what we can to meet those needs.
