He Almost Got Me

Recently, me and someone that I am very close with had a disagreement. As a result of the disagreement, there was tension between us. This tension made me feel very uncomfortable. But the Lord encouraged me not to change my behaviors toward that person. I was still to be loving, gentle, kind, etc.

A few days passed by and the tension continued. I was beginning to feel mistreated. My pride began to well up and I wanted to return an “eye for an eye”. So I did. I began to be cold toward my loved one. I began to avoid the person whenever I could. I began to be short with my interactions. This behavior only lasted a day (if that long) because it didn’t take long for the Holy Spirit to check me.

“Are you doing what I told you to do?” was the prompting in my spirit. And I knew I wasn't. I was immediately convicted. From that point, I had to press pass what I felt and walk in obedience to God's direction. But for a moment there, the devil almost got me; he almost got me not show love to my loved one. He almost got me to seek my own revenge. He almost got me to harbor bitterness in my heart. He almost got me purposely disobey God.

But thankfully I was sensitive enough to the Holy Spirit to be redirected in my time of error. The devil thought he had me, but God came and grabbed me! I am so thankful!
