Having a Made Up Mind

Are you seeking change in any area of your life? Maybe it’s a habit you want to give up. Maybe it’s a habit you want to develop. Whatever it is, part of your success will require you to have a made up mind.
Unfortunately, we find ourselves falling short in the things we “commit” to because of a lack of a made up mind. As soon as it gets hard or as soon as it gets uncomfortable, we find ourselves wavering in the very thing we just committed to. James 1:8 talks about a man who is double-minded being unstable in all his ways. So if we are double-minded (committing to something one minute and “uncommitting” the next), we will manifest instability in our lives.
Instability breeds dissatisfaction. It breeds discontentment. It breeds discouragement. None of these things are the will of God for our lives.
Instead, Romans 8:5-6 encourages us this way: “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”
This is God’s will for us; to have life and peace by being spiritually minded. But it starts with a made up mind. When you decide to commit to something, make up your mind by keeping your mind set on things of the Spirit. Ask Him for His help. This way you will have life and peace (and the success) that God wills for you to have!
