I read a post on Facebook that didn’t sit well with me:

After I read it, I was immediately reminded of the scripture:

“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their

itching ears want to hear.”

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4:3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

What didn't sit well me regarding the post is what the author called "toxic theology". Declaring that "Jesus is King" during difficult times is precisely what needs to happen because it is the truth no matter what our circumstances may be. It doesn't take much faith to declare Jesus is King when things are going well. It is during the tough times, during times of mistreatment, during times of unfair use of authority, that we as believers still must declare that Jesus is King.

In no way shape or form does declaring the truth of who God is minimize our lived experiences. In fact, what it does is minimize the effects of our experiences. When know the truth, that no matter what happens, Jesus is King, w know then that in the end, we will have the victory.

So my brothers and sisters, don't be jaded by what you are going through. Circumstances do change, but God does not. Be reminded that the truth still stands (Jesus is King) even in the midst of facts (circumstances).

Be careful not to fall into the trap of having "itching ears" and only hearing what is fitting for what you are feeling or what you are going through at the moment. Stand on the truth that no matter what Jesus is King!
